Surgeries and consulting rooms
Doctors' and dentists' surgeries are, for most people, the familiar face and first impression of health services. Formica laminate is a surfacing material that not only looks clean and fresh, but stays clean and fresh with minimal attention.
Laminate is ideal for the reception and waiting areas - for desking, seating and wall surfaces. Its hygienic properties explain why it has for so long been a popular surfacing in consulting and treatment rooms.
Osteopaths, chiropractors and the many other practitioners whose work is entering the mainstream of health promotion and treatment can be equally well served by our professional-looking materials. F2696 Hospitals and clinics
Formica laminates help designers of wards, circulation routes, stairwells and waiting areas to act on their knowledge that the quality of care and speed of recovery are influenced by visitors', staff and patients' perceptions of their surroundings - soothing colours and patterns help to calm patients and to reduce stress.
The Formica Digital service can be used to great effect in areas such as children's wards: customised images and graphics can be created in vivid and exciting colours to interest children and to create a safe, homely feeling. You can also use the Digital Service to produce in long-lasting laminate the signage that is so important in hospitals. F1484 But it is for their hygienic properties that Formica products excel in hospital conditions. Whether in the super-clean context of the operating theatre or pathology lab, in toilets and washrooms, on wards or in treatment rooms, Formica laminates meet the stringent requirements of sterility, durability and easy cleaning - Formica products can be steam cleaned or disinfected with no adverse effects. Solid Surfacing and Compact Grade
For the most sterile of situations, Formica Solid Surfacing is the ideal material. Microbiologically inert, it resists wet, dirt, bacteria and chemical attack. It is heat, flame and fire resistant to Class 0 of the UK Building Regulations, and meets low smoke emission tests. Its high impact resistance is coupled with a tactile impression of warmth and softness. The solid surface can be integrated with its own range of sinks in the same material, almost seamlessly joined.
Compact Grade laminate, in varying thicknesses to suit specification, is specially designed for applications such as laboratory tops requiring strength plus chemical, water and humidity resistance.
Care homes
An aging population requires more, and more medically-capable, care homes, whether for short respite or long term care. The virtues of beauty, dependability, hygiene and low maintenance that make Formica laminate so appropriate in mainstream healthcare apply equally in this rapidly-growing sector.
