| 1. Costs and Quotations |
The cost of Formica® Digital laminate will vary from project to project, depending also on the number of sheets required.
We can give indicative prices against an outline specification, but for written quotations we need the following information: • Artwork and hard copy proof; • Copyright details; • Surface finish (Velour is standard); • Laminate grade / thickness; • Colour specification; • Number of sheets required.
|
| 2. Artwork |
You can supply camera-ready artwork digitally, as a bromide or as a scaled drawing. Alternatively, you can supply us with actual-size film positives.
Please call us to discuss the format which will ensure the best, most cost-effective result.
Formats The Formica Digital Service supports the following formats on Apple Macintosh or PC platforms: • Photoshop: supplied in Tiff format; • Illustrator / Freehand: supplied in EPS format; • Quark: supplied as a Quark Document with all corresponding files; • All other design suites/applications: files should be supplied in Tiff format.
Image Size and Resolution Images should be 750mm x 293mm, at a minimum resolution of 300dpi. This is not as important for vector images.
If not supplied at this size, please bear in mind the ratio between the width and height, as images that are not in this ratio will be resized to a width of 1170mm and a length determined by the original image.
Resolution / Image Size relationship An image supplied at a quarter of the standard print size, 3000mm x 1170mm, and at 800dpi, will be resized to the sheet size with a final resolution of 200dpi. This is ideal, although images supplied at a lower resolution should be a minimum of 300dpi to allow the sheet to be resized.
As a rule of thumb, each time the image size is doubled the resolution is halved.
|
| 3. Proofing and Preview Samples |
Where laminate other than designs from the Formica Digital ranges is being used, our service includes proofing of images and photography as necessary.
With digital printing, we will take a sample of the image or design (approximately A4 size) from a randomly selected part of your artwork. We will send this to you for approval before we begin the final print run. We will also produce samples (approximately A3 size) of a section of the finished laminate sheet for your approval at an appropriate time in the project.
|
| Lead Times |
Lead times will vary depending upon the complexity of the project. As a guide, a three to four week lead time is appropriate for images supplied in a correct format.
