Spain Formica SA, a market leader in the design, manufacture and commercialisation of decorative high pressure laminate for the surfacing of furniture and interiors, has contributed to the creative and artistic design of the iconic Hotel Puerta America. Recently opened in Madrid, 18 of the world's leading architects and designers were involved in the creation of this hotel.
Formica® Laminate has been used extensively throughout floor 11, which was designed by Javier Mariscal and Fernando Salas. Making intensive use of Formica® Digiform, each room, suite, and the common corridors and lounge areas reflect the designers own individual style.
Formica Digiform allows bespoke designs to be created in Formica laminate through the application of digital print technology. The bedheads and the cupboard bars in each of the 32 rooms and 2 suites, as well as the corridor walls, are surfaced in Formica Digiform. For these areas, inspired by the veins of exotic wood, designs from the Formica® Veneers range have been reproduced in an oversized form to create a stunning and visual statement.
As an added compliment, Javier Marshal took additional advantage of the limitless personalisation possibilities offered by Formica Digiform, creating an exclusive red toned design for the doors of all the bedroom closets.
